Synaps now features a faster graphics engine for smoother and more responsive drawing, especially with large files. Drawings load reliably, even on strict networks, and brief connection drops no longer interrupt your work. This update also adds easier asset browsing with the mouse wheel, meters as the default unit, improved hex color entry, and leaner DXF imports.

V3 is here: A faster drawing engine for everyone
Synaps now uses its new graphics engine across all accounts, making drawing smoother and more efficient for everyone.
The drawing engine is the part of Synaps that transforms lines, hatches, text, and images into the picture you see. It updates your view every time you pan, zoom, or edit. The new engine is designed to handle large and detailed drawings with less effort, improving performance on complex projects.
With this update, the new engine is now standard for all users. You’ll also notice the v3 impact on the dashboard, where project cards now display a real preview of your drawing instead of a placeholder.
If your browser isn’t compatible with the new engine, Synaps will automatically switch back to the previous version to ensure a smooth experience.
Improved
Keep working through short reconnects
Short connection drops no longer disrupt your work with status alerts.
If your connection blips, your changes are safely saved in your browser and sent once you’re back online.
The connection status now only appears when something needs your attention, such as when saving fails or editing has to pause. Synaps also makes room automatically if your browser's storage is full, so your unsaved changes aren't lost.
Improved
Scroll asset categories with a mouse wheel
The row of asset categories now scrolls sideways with a standard mouse wheel.
The Assets tab shows a row of category filters above the asset library. When there are more categories than fit, the row continues beyond the edge of the panel.
Previously, only a trackpad swipe, a tilting wheel, or Shift with the wheel could move this row. A normal up-and-down wheel now scrolls it sideways too. When the row reaches either end, the wheel scrolls the content behind it as usual, so it does not feel stuck.
Improved
Leaner drawings after DXF imports and Isolate
Importing a DXF file and using Isolate on an image add less unused data to a drawing.
DXF files sometimes include extra block definitions and layouts that aren’t needed. Isolate turns a selected part of an image into its own image.
Now, only the blocks actually used in your drawing are imported, keeping things tidy. The Isolate tool now saves new images just like other uploads, reducing file size and history clutter. If an upload fails, Isolate will stop without using any of your credits.
Improved
Metric lengths start in metres
In metric regions, Synaps now starts with lengths in metres instead of millimetres.
Synaps chooses a starting unit for lengths from your device's time zone: feet in imperial regions and metric units elsewhere. You can change the unit, and your choice is remembered in that browser.
This only affects the initial setup, existing projects and prior choices remain unchanged.
Fixed
Drawings load reliably on filtered networks
Ad blockers, antivirus tools and company firewalls no longer stop drawings from opening.
Some network filters blocked the service Synaps uses to store drawings and files, which caused a generic loading error.
Drawings and files now load directly from Synaps, so these filters no longer get in the way. If a drawing fails to load the first time, Synaps also tries again automatically.
Fixed
Type hex codes into color fields
You can type a hex color code into color fields without the field resetting on each keystroke.
Color fields, such as the hex row in the color picker and the canvas background color, accept a hex code such as #1F1F1D.
Some of these fields accept only a complete color, so each partial keystroke replaced the previous value, and you couldn't type anything. The field now keeps what you type until you leave it. A complete code is applied as before, and an incomplete one returns to the last valid color when you leave the field.
